Downtown Milford Inc. announced that First Friday’s will return June 5. The street party event will take place on Walnut Street on the first Friday of each month from June through October from 5 to 8 PM.
“This year, we are including a wellness and movement component to every First Friday,” Sade Truiett, Executive Director of Downtown Milford Inc. said. “In June, we are celebrating a summer kickoff and encouraging everyone to “let’s get moving!”
In June, entertainment will include line dancing and Zumba in the street along with a Double-Dutch demonstration.
“We thought it would be fun to have one half of the Double-Dutch group in Kent County and the other in Sussex County on the bridge,” Truiett said. “There will also be selfie stations, giveaways and more.”

Highmark Health Options will offer a wellness station with community resources to expand the health and wellness focus of this year’s First Friday’s. There will be children’s activities, food trucks and vendors throughout town with businesses remaining open late for shopping.
In addition to June 5, First Friday events are planned for July 3, August 7, September 4 and October 3. Except for July 3, all First Fridays are held on Walnut Street.
“On July 3, we will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States in Bicentennial Park,” Truiett said. “Details will be forthcoming, but we are hoping to make this one of the biggest First Friday celebrations as we commemorate the founding of our country.
Sponsorships are available for First Friday and applications can be found online. Vendor applications are available for June and July dates. The August application will be posted after the June First Friday is over.
