Special Olympics Delaware’s 2026 State Bowling Tournament will take palce on Saturday, September 12 at Mid-County Lanes in Middletown. This beloved annual event willb ring together over 470 Special Olympics athletes and Unified partners from across the state for a day of spirited competition and celebration.
“There’s something special about seeing the lanes filled with athletes giving their all, cheering on their teammates, and celebrating every strike, spare and personal best,” said Kylie Lavelle, Director of Sprots and Area Engagement for Special Olympics Delaware. “As one of the largest bowling tournaments ever held by Special Olympics Delaware, this event reflects the incredible growth of our program and the enthusiasm our athletes have for competition. We’re proud to bring together so many athletes and Unified partners for a weekend that highlights achievement, sportsmanship and inclusion.”
The tournament will feature competitions in singles, double, Unified doubles, as well as bumper and ramp divisions, with shift times scheduled form 8:30 to 11 AM, 12:30 to 3 PM and 4:30 to 6:30 PM.
Participants include children and adults from the five Special Olympics Delaware areas: Wilmington Wizards, Newark Dragons, MOT Tigers, Kent Wild Kats and Sussex Riptide. Athletes have been training throughout the summer in preparation for the tournament. Each shift of competition will begin with a n opening ceremony and conclude with medals and ribbons awarded by law enforcement officers, honoring the achievements of every competitor.
