Second Street Players is excited to announce auditions for its 2026 holiday show, Fruitcakes, written by Julian Wiles.
Director Isaac Christanson will hold auditions on Sunday, September 13 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (all ages), and Monday, September 14 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (ages 8-17) and 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (ages 18-99). All auditions will be held at SSP’s Riverfront Theater, 2 S. Walnut Street, Milford.
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. You may bring a resume; headshots are optional. The show is performed by a cast of actors ages 10 and up. Additional information on cast breakdown may be found on the SSP website. The cast should be available for all technical rehearsals which are held the week prior to the show and for all performances which are November 27, 28, 29, and December 4, 5, and 6, 2026.
What do you get when you mix together a batch of fruitcakes, three dozen Christmas trees, 10,000 outdoor Christmas lights, a chicken pox epidemic, two southern spinsters, an estranged old man, a lost cat and a Christmas hog? Fruitcakes! Jamie, a kid who has run away from home, has traveled as far as his money would take him. At first, he thinks everyone in this town is a bit nuttier than fruitcakes, but soon comes to adore this little town.
