Tie-dye, bell bottoms and the timeless sounds of the 1960s and 1970s will once again fill the grounds of the historic Causey Mansion when the Milford Museum hosts its annual Hippie Fest fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 3 to 8 p.m.
Now considered one of the museum’s signature fundraising events, Hippie Fest began in 2019 as a one-time celebration marking the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock Music & Art Fair. The inaugural event sold out quickly, prompting museum organizers to make it an annual tradition. Since then, the festival has grown into one of Milford’s most anticipated summer events, combining live music, nostalgia and community spirit while raising funds to support the museum’s mission of preserving local history.
This year’s celebration returns to the picturesque lawn of the Causey Mansion, located at 2 Causey Avenue, where guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and settle in for an afternoon of classic rock, soul and pop favorites from the Woodstock era.
Headlining the event for the third time is The Funsters, one of the region’s most popular party bands, performing favorites from the 1960s and 1970s. Between sets, DJ Dana McDonald of Forever Media will keep the music going with a mix of classic hits from the era.
Festivalgoers are encouraged to embrace the theme by wearing tie-dye shirts, bell bottoms, headbands and other retro attire.
Food trucks will be on site throughout the afternoon, while The Alcohauler will offer adult beverages. Guests are also welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages, although outside food is not permitted.
The event is open only to guests 21 years of age and older, and a valid photo ID is required for admission.
Tickets are available online or may be purchased in person at the former Milford Museum, 121 S. Walnut St., which is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday through Friday. Advance tickets are $40 through July 31 and increase to $45 beginning Aug. 1. Additional information is available by calling the museum at 302-424-1080 or by sending an email.
Proceeds from Hippie Fest help support the Milford Museum’s exhibits, educational programming and preservation efforts, allowing the museum to continue sharing the stories and artifacts that document Milford’s rich history for future generations.
