Milford Public Library programs planned for this week focus on clubs, history and services to help the community. Programs are available for all ages and most of them are free.
Saturday April 11 at 10 AM, the Helping Hands Community Event offers free resources and services brought by Milford Advocacy for the Homeless. That same day at 10 AM, Milford Advocacy for the Homeless will provide low-income apartment application services to those in need.
History lovers can attend a special tour of Parson Thorne Mansion on Saturday, April 11at 10 AM. Tours of one of the oldest structures in Milford are led by tour guides in period costumes who provide visitors with a unique perspective on the mansion’s inhabitants over the various time periods it has been in existence. Those interested in attending should meet at the mansion, located at 501 Northwest Front Street.
At 1 PM on April 11, The American History Series, offered by the Milford Museum, will focus on “The Scopes Monkey Trial.” The program focuses on John Thomas Scopes who was accused of violating the state law of teaching evolution in a Tennessee classroom.
April 11 is a busy day at the library as all day is Paint Day in the Children’s Room. Children can choose canvas, a bird house or a picture frame to decorate and make their own. This is a while supplies last program and only one item can be painted per child.
The Milford Public Library Cookbook Club will meet on Monday, April 13 at 4:30 PM. Stop by the circulation desk to register and chose a recipe from the cookbook chosen for April. This month is “Cooking German.”
Every Thursday is Story Time at 10:30 AM for children who explore new topics, stories and perspectives. No registration is necessary!
On Friday, April 10, A two-hour sensory art and craft workshop, designed for children with autism and other developmental disabilities is offered at 11:30 AM. The workshop provides a calm, inclusive environment where children can explore hands-on art activities while also building emotional regulation and social skills. Learn more and register online.
Looking for some Egg-celent activities? Look no further than the Egg Drop STEM program planned for Tuesday, April 14. Stop by between 3 and 6:30 PM to build a parachute to protect an egg from plummeting to the ground. Another STEM program with Snapology is planned for Wednesday, April 15 at 5:30 PM in the Children’s room. Be sure to register!
The Milford Public Library children’s staff, Nemours and Polytech Parents as Teachers for a night of Literacy and Language Learning with the Roots Literacy and Language Activity Night on Thursday, April 16 at 5:30 PM.
Teens can create Decorative Safety Pins on Friday, April 10 at 3:30 PM while on Wednesday, April 15 at 4 Pm, teens can participate in World Art Day by making the worst art possible. Judges will vote on the Worst in Show and winners will receive a gift card. Thursday, April 16 at 4 PM is Pizza and Paperbacks.
As a reminder, if you cannot attend a program, please cancel at least 24 hours in advance so the spot can be offered to someone on the waitlist.
