Milford School District announced Erin Raniszewski as the 2027 Teacher of the Year.
Raniszewski, a dedicated educator with over eight years of experience, currently teaches English Language Arts in the Spanish Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program at Mispillion Elementary School. Her teaching philosophy is centered on building meaningful relationships and promoting culturally responsive, inclusive classrooms through differentiated and trauma-informed practices.
Raniszewski’s work focuses on creating environments that promote both academic and social-emotional growth while strengthening trust between school and home. She is proud to be part of the DLI program and values the connection and culture she shares with her partner and students.
“I think what I love most about teaching is the community that I get to help create within the classroom, the relationships I build with my students is truly something I treasure, and it makes teaching them much more fun, Raniszewski said about her favorite part of teaching.
Inspired by her own third grade experience of writing and publishing a story, Raniszewski brings that same sense of pride, ownership, and perseverance into her classroom each day. She is intentional in creating opportunities for her students to believe in themselves and take pride in their work.
One student shared he is learning to keep going even when he feels like giving up, and that he is excited to see what he can accomplish when he finishes. This powerful reflection is a direct result of Raniszewski’s unwavering support and her commitment to helping every student recognize their potential and persevere through challenges.
Raniszewski will now compete for the State Teacher of the Year Recognition.
