At a recent meeting, Milford School District Board of Education approved the 2026-27 school calendar. The school year will begin August 31 and will end June 9 for students.
New hire orientation is planned for August 13 with new teacher orientation planned for August 17 and 18. Teachers report starting August 17.
The holidays for the year include Labor Day on September 7, Election Day November 3, Veteran’s Day on November 11, Thanksgiving from November 26 through November 27 and Winter Break from December 24 through 31. In addition to those holidays in 2026, there is no school for students on September 4, September 15, November 4, November 23, November 25 and December 3. There is also a half-day of school on Return’s Day on November 5.
In 2027, holidays include New Year’s Day on January 1, Martin Luther King Day on January 18, President’s Day on February 15, March 26 through April 2 for Spring Break and Memorial Day on May 31. Students also do not report to school on January 4, January 26, February 22 and April 5.
Marking periods on the calendar are also noted. Marking period one ends October 29, marking period two ends January 21, marking period three ends March 23 and marking period four ends June 9.
Graduation is planned for May 27, and We Are Milford Day is planned for April 17. The last teacher day is June 11 and there are two weather make up days, June 14 and 15, built into the schedule.
Family conferences are planned for November 23.
The calendar includes 170 student days with 1,105 hours. It includes 188 teacher days and 185 paraprofessional days. Paraprofessionals do not report to work on November 4, January 26 and April 5. The student hours are in excess of what is required by the Delaware Department of Education requires 1,060 hours for students in grades Kindergarten through 11th grade and 1,032 hours for 12th grade students.
