Milford Public Library offers many different programs for children, teens and adults. This week, a Stitch Luau Party and the fourth in the series on book banning top the list of fun things to do.
Children can enjoy the Stitch Luau Party at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 9 where they can actually meet Stitch, listen to stories, sing songs and enjoy refreshments.
On Wednesday, June 10 at 10:30 AM, kids can “Paws” & Relax with Courageous Hearts. This is a low-key and interactive program where they can learn simple breathing tricks, ways to stressless and real-life tools to handle whatever life throws your way.
“Meet Denali and Ruby, certified therapy dogs and their human teammate, Jeff,” Lea Rosell, Executive Director of the library said. “They’ve been hanging out with students in the Milford community for over seven years, helping build confidence and resilience.”
Registration is required for this program.
Also on June 9 at 4 PM, the fourth in the library series on the History of Book Banning will take place. This program features details on book banning’s in today’s world.

“Efforts to remove books like Flamer and The Hate U Give from classrooms and library shelves mean that students may never get to read these stories,” Rosell said. “Join us for a fun afternoon of activities and discussions where you can learn more about why books are banned and challenged in recent years. We will also talk about local challenges in Delaware as well as ways you can advocate for the right to read in your community.”
The teen Writer Workshop is planned for Wednesday, June 10 at 3 PM where information will be provided on character creation. Using principles inspired by method acting, teens examine their characters through reflective questions and creative activities.
“The Milford Public Library supports the community with a variety of traditional and innovative resources in a safe, inclusive environment,” Rosell reminded everyone. “The library encourages lifelong learning, exploration and imagination to enhance the quality of life in our community. We strive to inspire all ages to read, learn and discover.”
As a reminder, if you cannot attend a program, please cancel at least 24 hours in advance so we can offer your spot to someone on the waitlist. Missing two programs without notice may result in a temporary suspension of registration privileges.
