Milford School District recently announce Lauren French as the newest Assistant Principal at Benjamin Banneker Elementary School.
A proud Milford High School graduate and longtime member of the Milford School District, French is entering her 14th year in the district and brings a wealth of experience to her new leadership role. She began her career as an elementary teacher in Milford at Mispillion and Banneker Elementary Schools, where she taught grades 3, 4, and 5 in inclusive classroom settings. Throughout her career, she has served district students and families in a variety of roles, including Special Education Coordinator at Benjamin Banneker Elementary School and, most recently, at Milford Middle School.
French has demonstrated a commitment to supporting students, educators, and families. Her experience includes serving as an instructional coach, student support team member, school leadership team member, and Comprehensive Induction Program lead coach, where she helped support new educators as they began their careers. In addition to her work in the classroom and in specialized support, French has served on elementary curriculum task forces in English language arts, mathematics, and social studies, while also contributing to special education curriculum development and elementary math teacher leadership.
French earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Delaware and a Master of Education in Instruction: Teaching and Learning from Wilmington University.
As she transitions into school leadership at Banneker, French is especially excited about the opportunity to support the district’s youngest learners and their families.
“I am looking forward to helping welcome our youngest Buccaneers as they begin their educational journey,” she said. “As a mother of two young children, I know how magical these early years are in school. I cannot wait to support staff and families with whatever they need to make their education the best it can be.”
For French, stepping into a leadership role in Milford represents another chapter in a lifelong connection to the community. A member of the Milford High School Class of 2009, she returned to the district to begin her teaching career and has spent her professional career serving the community that helped shape her own educational journey. Now, as a parent, educator, and school leader, she is excited to continue giving back to the district she knows and loves.
“I have pride and a strong belief in our district, as both a parent and employee,” French said. “I cannot wait to continue to contribute to MSD in this new role, working with staff, students, families, and the community.”
Outside of school, Lauren enjoys spending time with her family. Much of their time is spent at sporting events, with her husband, Todd, coaching at Milford High School and their children, Teddy and Penny, participating in soccer and baseball. The family also enjoys exploring downtown Milford, taking walks, traveling, and simply spending time together.
The Milford School District is excited to welcome Lauren French into her new role and looks forward to the experience, perspective, and Buccaneer pride she will bring to Banneker.
