Milford Library programs for the first week of May offer something for everyone, from children to teens to adults. Programs are free to attend although some require registration.
Friday, May 1, teens can participate in Homeschool Hour at 1 M. This month, the group will celebrate National Space Day and the end of the school year. Teens will learn about space while enjoying space-themed refreshments, making crafts and playing games. Registration is required and limited.
On Saturday, May 2, the library will hold a donation-based yard sale as the library cleans out storage in preparation for renovations. The yard sale starts at 10 AM and donations are accepted in cash, credit card and check. Credit cards have a $2 minimum and checks a $10 minimum.
On Monday, May 4 at 5 PM, Crafts and Coffee provides an hour of communal crafting. Bring knitting, sketchbooks or any other project and join the library for coffee and community. No materials provided, but coffee will be.
Toddler Time is planned for Tuesday, May 5 at 10:30 AM. The program is for toddlers and their caregivers, beginning with a singing circle and ends with sensory bins, musical instruments or toddler friendly toys. No registration necessary, just stop in for fun.
Also on May 5, Teens can enjoy Bedazzled Bonanza at 3 PM. Add some sparkle to life with this drop-in program where all types of objects are bedazzled. Gems, glue, tweezers and objects are provided but teens are encouraged to bring their own items. Registration is not required.
On May 6 at 2:30 PM, participate in a form of exercise that utilizes drumming movements with Chair Drumming. It does not require drumming experience and involves using drumsticks to hit an exercise ball placed on a bucket while listening to upbeat music. Registration is required.
The Blue Hen Read-a-Thon nominees will be provided on May 6 at 3 PM. Teens will read the available nominees while enjoying refreshments. This is a drop-in program with teens permitted to stay as long as they wish.
Thursday, May 7 at 1 PM volunteers will make mats for the homeless using plastic bags. Statewide, the program has given more than 400 mats to neighbors in need.
Also, on May 7 at 4 PM, teens can snack around Asia and the Pacific Islands. The program celebrates Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with snacks popular in those areas. Teens will guess where the snacks are popular and the one with the most correct answers will win a small prize.
Every Tuesday and Thursday at 3:15 PM, chair yoga is held at the library. Chair yoga can be done while seated or standing, using a chair for support. Chair yoga enhances flexibility, concentration, balance and strength while also boosting your mood, reducing stress and alleviating joint strain. Registration is required.
Every Thursday is Weekly Story Time for children at 10:30 AM. Children can explore new stories, topics and perspectives each week. No registration necessary.
