A house fire destroyed a home in the 800 block of Front Street in Houston on Monday, April 6. The fire was reported around 11:56 AM.
Initial reports indicated that the rear of the home was on fire and that there were no hydrants nearby. When first responders arrived, flames extended through various areas of the structure. Multiple fire companies responded to assist Houston Fire Company. The home was not occupied at the time of the fire.
At around 12:37 PM, the structure collapsed after firefighters who were battling the blaze inside reported deteriorating conditions. They were ordered to evacuate due to safety concerns.
Investigators with the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene and are continuing to investigate the origin and cause of the fire. Anyone with information should contact the Delaware State Fire Marshal by calling 302-739-5665 or via email.
The fire displaced one individual. There were no injuries, but damage was estimated at $250,000.
