The final weeks of June at the Milford Public Library have programs featuring dogs, dinosaur eggs, pirates and pride. Most library programs are free although some require registration.
On Wednesday, June 24, “Paws” and Relax with Ruby and Denali, certified therapy dogs from Courageous Hearts. The dogs spend time with students in the Milford community and have been doing so for over seven years. Registration is required for the event which begins at 2 PM.
Every Thursday at 2 PM, teens can drop in for IMAZINE afternoons where they can work on submissions for the 16th volume of Delaware’s IMAZINE! The publication is designed for teens 12 to 19 or go to school or live in Delaware. Submissions are due on December 31, 2026, and all materials will be provided. Teens who cannot attend but still want to submit a piece can do so by clicking here.
On Thursday, June 25 at 3:30 PM, teens can create their own dinosaur egg soap. They simply select their favorite dino and put it in an egg mold. The mold is then filled with soap. All materials are provided but it does take about an hour and a half for the soap to dry. This is not a walk-in program, and attendees are encouraged to arrive as close to the start time as possible. Registration is required and space is limited.
On Friday, June 26 at 2 PM, the library will celebrate Pride Month with teens creating a variety of pride-themed crafts. As they create their crafts, information will be provided on the origins and history of Pride Month. Crafts include buttons, bookmarks, stickers, bracelets, jewelry and more. All supplies are included.
Children will love the Feelings Rock Music and Movement program planned for Tuesday, June 30 at 10:30 AM. The class is geared toward newborn to age five with family interaction welcome. Story time will follow the music and movement activities which are designed to help preschoolers and their families navigate social emotional development. Registration is required and parents should only register the children who are attending.
Also, on June 30 at 2 PM, children can learn more about pirates that sailed off the Delaware coast. They can travel back in time to the great age of sail when merchants sought fortune in the Americas while dealing with pirates. Students will explore the privates during the golden age of Piracy in Delaware which occurred from the 1650s to the 1730s. The program engages children in a popular topic while encouraging them to use their critical thinking skills through
hands-on activities and role-play. Registration is required and the program is designed for kindergarten through third grade.
As a reminder, if you cannot attend a program, please cancel at least 24 hours in advance so we can offer your spot to someone on the waitlist. Missing two programs without notice may result in a temporary suspension of registration privileges.
