Donna Lawson Owens, who worked for over 30 years at the Delaware Technical and Community College Owens Campus, passed away on May 7, 2026. Donna was 83.
Born on August 22, 1942, in Millsboro, Delaware, the daughter of the late Ralph E. Lawson and Novella Walters, Donna was lovingly raised with the support of Lucien and Ruth Lenhart and Albert and Mildred Lawson.
A proud graduate of Millsboro High School Class of 1960, Donna continued her education at Goldey Beacom College where she earned a secretarial diploma. She later attended Delaware Technical and Community College Owens Campus, earning an associate degree. Her passion for lifelong learning led her to Wilmington University where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
A valued and respected employee at Del-Tech Owens Campus, her commitment to education left a lasting impact on colleagues and students alike.
Donna is survived by her loving family Timothy Esham (Susan); Shannon Owens (Lee Johnson); Jack “Jay” Owens, Jr. (Katie); and Kara Raab (Steve). She will also be missed by her seven grandchildren, one great grandchild; her sister, Mona Wyatt; and her cousin Aleta Esham (Billy).
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack F. Owens and her parents.
Donna will be remembered for her strength, devotion to family, generosity and patience. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
