Benjamin Marshall Reynolds, Jr., a lifetime resident of Milton, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 93 years old, a devoted husband, father and friend.
Born in Milton on August 5, 1932, Marshall was the son of the late B. Marshall Reynolds, Sr. and Ethel A. Reynolds.
Marshall dedicated his life to his family, work and two organizations. He worked many jobs throughout his life, from delivering milk, selling insurance and at King Cole. Even after his retirement, Marshall continued working with his son installing cable television systems.
There were two organizations that Marshall was passionate about, the Milton Lions Club and the Milton Odd Fellows Lodge, dedicating a good part of his life. Marshall just celebrated his 66th year as an Odd Fellow and one of his dreams was to see the Milton Odd Fellows Lodge grow with people and to see a lodge building built near the cemetery and to make that building welcoming to all.
Marshall wanted to give back to the community he loved, but one of the best things Marshall was known for was his passion for the Town of Milton, some people have even nicknamed him “Mr. Milton” and he showed this by the way he took care of the Milton Odd Fellows Cemetery. He took care of the cemetery for over 25 years and never asked for or complained about anything. He always had a smile and a conversation.
According to his family, if you ever met Marshall, you all knew he was famous for starting up conversations with complete strangers and asking them, “Where do you live?” Another passion of Marshall’s was running the rest stop in Milton for the MS Bikes to the Bay. It started over 30 years ago at Miss Polly’s and is still going strong to this day. His family and friends say that you could always count on Marshall to hand you a free scrapple sandwich, a cup of Gatorade and a conversation.
Marshall was loved by all he met and will truly be missed.
A viewing for Marshall will be held Friday, May 15, 2026, from 6 to 8 PM at the Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street, Milton. A funeral will be held Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Short Funeral Services at noon. Interment will be in Milton Odd Fellows Cemetery on Union Street in Milton.
A celebration of life ceremony for family and immediate friends will be held at the Milton Fire Hall immediately after. Flowers are accepted; however, Marshall and his family are asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Milton Odd Fellows Building Fund, c/o Michael Reynolds, 166 Lakeside Drive, Laurel DE 19966 so that Marshall’s dream can come true.
