Kenneth Byron Jones of Lincoln, an accomplished architect, author and longtime supporter of his profession and community, passed away on July 8, 2026. He was 60.
Jones was known not only for his architectural talent but also for his commitment to mentoring young professionals and building lasting relationships with clients throughout his career. A graduate of the University of Maryland, he earned a Bachelor of Architecture in 1990 before completing a Master of Architecture in 1992.
He began his career with Grimm & Parker Architects before partnering with Wes Bridges to establish CB Design Group. What started as a one-room office grew into a nationally recognized architectural firm employing 23 people.
According to his family, Jones found the greatest satisfaction in the people side of architecture, taking pride in mentoring emerging architects and fostering strong client relationships. His passion for design extended beyond his profession, as architecture remained a lifelong creative pursuit.
Outside the office, Jones expressed his creativity through writing, publishing five novels under the pen name K.B. Jones. He also enjoyed drawing, fishing, golfing and spending time cheering on his favorite sports teams, the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens.
Family members said he will be remembered for his creativity, dedication and the meaningful life and career he built alongside those he loved.
Jones was the beloved husband of Wynette for 36 years and a devoted father to Taylor and Bailey. He is also survived by his mother, Dot, and brothers Bill and Steve (Brenda). He was preceded in death by his father, Jim.
A celebration of Jones’ life will be held Saturday, Aug. 8, at Evans Funeral Chapel, 3 Newport Drive, Forest Hill, Maryland. Visitation with the family will begin at 11 a.m., followed by a celebration of life at noon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Milford Advocacy for the Homeless or The HopeWell Foundation in Jones’ memory.
