On April 16 at approximately 6:07 PM, Delaware State Police responded to Buffalo Road in Frederica due to a report of a hit and run crash. According to witnesses, a silver minivan struck a fence. As the trooper was responding, he saw a silver Mazda 5 with front end damage traveling northbound on South Dupont Highway near West Lebanon Road.
Since the damage was consistent with a collision and the car matched the description, the trooper pulled the Mazda over and spoke to the driver. He was identified as Damian Lee, 26, of Milford. The trooper recognized multiple signs of impairment in Lee and took him into custody.
The investigation revealed that the Mazda struck a fence and drove through the front yard of two residences where two children were nearly struck. No injuries were reported. Lee was taken to Troop 3 where a Standard Field Sobriety Test was administered. Afterward, he was charged with two counts reckless endangering in the first degree, driving under the influence, driving with a suspended/revoked drivers’ license, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and multiple traffic violations.
He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and released on a $10,800 unsecured bond.
