
The City of Milford reminds residents of Ward 3 that a special election is planned for Saturday, July 25 from 10 AM to 6 PM. The deadline to register to run for the open seat, vacated in May by Michael Stewart, is July 15, 2026.
The city does not require any candidate to be a property owner to sit on city council. Renters, as long as they have lived in Ward 3 for one year, are eligible to run for the seat.
Anyone registered to vote with the State of Delaware by July 15, 2026, and who reside in Ward 3 are eligible to vote in the election. Deadline to register to vote is also July 15, 2026, at 4:30 PM. Non-resident property owners must own property in their name in Ward 3 in order to vote and must declare their intention to vote at the City Clerk’s office by Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 4:30 PM.
Candidate packets can be obtained by calling 302-422-1111, Extension 1300 or 1142. Absentee ballot information can also be obtained by calling the same numbers.
