A request for a conditional use for an office building on September Way, a private road connected to Fitzgerald Road, was approved by Susse County Council. The property, owned by Jeffrey Baughman, is the site of an Equine Assisted Psychotherapy facility. The applicant proposed to turn a four-bedroom house on the property into office space.
“We are looking to convert the home, which is my house, into office space,” Baughman said. “We have been operating out of the property for about 10 years.”
The business incorporates horses into traditional therapy. It is operational Monday through Friday from 9 AM until 5 PM, but they do have therapy sessions that may go as late as 7 PM. The request was approved by the Planning Commission.
“This will be office space for our therapists who are already working in the program,” Baughman said. “There is an equine specialist and a licensed mental health professional on site. We want to be able to provide them office space.”
Council commended Baughman for the work he was doing as it was greatly needed. A public hearing was held for the request, but no one spoke for or against it.
Council passed the request unanimously.
