Delaware State Police have arrested a Felton man in connection with a stabbing that left one person critically injured late Sunday night at a Dover bar.
Charles Murray, 44, was taken into custody following the incident, which occurred around 11:20 p.m. at the Touchdown Lounge on South DuPont Highway.
According to police, troopers responded to reports of a stabbing and learned that a male victim had been injured during an altercation involving Murray. Both the suspect and the victim were transported to a nearby hospital.
Investigators said the incident began inside the bar, where Murray accused the victim and a bartender of stealing his debit card. The situation escalated when Murray allegedly punched the victim.
Police said the victim then left the bar and spoke with a friend who was sitting in a nearby vehicle. While they were talking, Murray approached the vehicle, leading to a second confrontation. The victim’s friend exited the car and became involved in a physical altercation with Murray.
As the victim moved toward the two, Murray allegedly stabbed him multiple times, police said.
The victim sustained critical injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment. Authorities said Murray was not injured.
Murray was taken into custody without incident and transported to State Police Troop 3. He has been charged with first-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
Following arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 2, Murray was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $102,000 cash bond.
The investigation remains ongoing.
