Council Has Packed Agenda for June 8

After cancelling their May 26 meeting due to lack of quorum, Milford City Council has a packed agenda for their regular meeting on Monday, June 8.

Proclamations for Waste and Recycling Workers Week, Garden Club Week and the Juneteenth Celebration will be read while the electric department will receive special recognition. Staff reports from city departments will also be read during the meeting.

There are four public hearings on the agenda Monday. The first is for the Delaware State Housing Authority Community Development Block Grant Program which provides grants for property rehabilitation and repair. A conditional use for Read Den Play to convert approximately 825 square feet of the shopping center located at 268-292 Milford Harrington Highway will be open for the public to speak.

Milford Historical Society is asking for a conditional use to construct a 2,000 square foot museum building and associated parking on the Parson Thorne Mansion property. MLTJ, LLC, is requesting a conditional use for a flex office and warehouse at 250 North Rehoboth Boulevard. MLTJ is requesting to demolish three existing buildings and constructing two, 9,900 square-foot buildings, one 6,000 square foot building and renovating an existing 8,300 square foot building to offer flex-warehouse space on the property.

Carlisle Fire Company will provide an update to council for the month of May. Council will also review the Memorandum of Understanding for Downtown Milford Inc. A funding request for the July 3 community event is also on the agenda from Downtown Milford Inc. The appointment of the Board of Elections for the special election is on the agenda but is now not necessary as no one filed to run for the open Ward 3 seat.

Two change orders for the Police Evidence Building are on the agenda along with authorization of a maintenance contract for inflow and infiltration maintenance. Council will also review plans for Phase I of Deep Branch Park.

An agreement with DelDOT to replace a bridge on Cedar Beach Road will be discussed as well as the service agreement with First State Inspection Agency. The Comprehensive Plan Annual Report Questionnaire is on the agenda.

Tax and utility revenue as well as vehicle and equipment replacements related to the FY 2027 budget are to be discussed along with the adoption of the FY2027 CIP plan.

There is an introduction to a conditional use requested by Beach Babies, but since it is only for introduction, there will be no discussion.

As with every council meeting, there is a 15-minute public comment portion. The time limit for each speaker is three-minutes. Due to the significant number of items on the agenda, council will likely be very strict regarding the length of public comment and how many people may speak.
