Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Friday, June 26 on Milford-Harrington Highway. Two people died and a third was critically injured.
At approximately 9:15 PM, a Ford Mustang, traveling westbound on Milford Harrington Highway at a high rate of speed approached the intersection of Church Hill Road. A Nissan Rogue had just turned right onto Milford Harrington Highway westbound from Church Hill Road. The front of the Mustang collided with the rear of the Rogue for reasons that are still under investigation, causing the Rogue to rotate, overturn into a utility pole and become engulfed in fire.
The driver and passenger of the Rogue, whose identities have not been released, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Mustang, a 36-year-old Harrington man was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The road was closed for approximately four hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the crash. Troopers ask anyone who witnessed the crash or has video to contact Master Corporal J. Lane at 302-698-8457.
