Jay Reese Dickerson, 85, of Milford, DE, gained his angel wings on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Jay was born in Lewes, DE, the beloved son of the late W. Mitchell (Mitch) and Ruth L. Dickerson. He was a proud graduate of Milton High School, Class of 1959. Following graduation, Jay honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. A master of all trades, Jay possessed an extraordinary talent for understanding how things worked. Over his long and industrious career, his skills were valued across many organizations.
Jay was a devoted member of the Lighthouse Christian Center. He truly lived his faith through a life of service to others. Jay never hesitated to lend his skilled hands and generous heart to anyone in need, but above all, he cherished traveling and making memories with his family. Jay was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ann Dickerson; his grandson, Joseph L. McIlvain; his brother, Ralph A. Dickerson; and his sister, Nancy F. Hitchens.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and is survived by his children, J.R. Dickerson (Kim) and Paige McIlvain (Donald); his three grandchildren, Jessica Ritter (Brooks), Jeremy
Dickerson (Veronica), and John McIlvain (Ciana); and his cherished great- grandchildren, Hannah Cannady Dickerson, Ari Dickerson, Austin Dickerson, Hannah Ritter, Sophia Ritter, and Ava Ritter.
