IQ Fiber held a ribbon cutting in Dover on March 30, bringing more options for internet service in Milford closer to fruition. In December 2025, Milford City Council approved a contract with IQ Fiber that would allow them to place their services on utility poles within the city.
“This exciting milestone marks the launch of IQ Fiber’s service in its first Delaware neighborhoods,” Lauren Swain, Economic Development and Community Engagement Director, said. “We’re thrilled to celebrate the opening of their new Engineering, Technical Support and Sales Center and even more excited about the opportunity to bring these enhanced services to Milford in the near future.”
Attending the ribbon cutting were Mayor Todd Culotta and Governor Matt Meyer.
“We are a fiber optic broadband provider, and we are currently building fiber optic networks in Delaware. We have our franchise agreement with DelDOT, and we are building a lot of projects, including what will be in Milford,” Mark Wagner, Vice-President of New Markets with IQ Fiber, said at the December council meeting. “We look for communities like Milford that don’t currently have an alternative provider.”
Wagner compared IQ Fiber to Comcast, which is currently the only internet provider in Milford. He explained that Comcast used an electric system while IQ Fiber used a 100 percent fiber optic system that offered similar speeds. Wagner provided details on pricing as well, stating that their competitor charged $110 per month plus a $100 installation fee for their fasted internet. He also stated this was likely a “teaser” price that would increase over time.
The cost for IQ Fiber for the same speed was a set fee of $85 per month with no installation costs. Fiber also offers higher speeds than cable at 5000 Mbps as opposed to 1000 Mbps. The cost for the highest speed with IQ Fiber was $125 per month with no contracts required. The company offers month-to-month subscription plans for both residential and commercial.
“When we come through, we put door hangers with a QR code on the back where residents can go and if they have any construction concerns, it will take them directly to the person they need to speak with,” Wagner said. “We also mail postcards to let them know we are coming through. Once we are in a community, we are here forever, so we become a community partner. We sponsor things and we have a great presence.”
The opening of the new location in Dover was a step by IQ Fiber to begin adding services throughout Delaware. It was not announced when Milfordians could access the new internet provider.
