The countdown is on for the 2026 Dogfish Dash, returning to Dogfish Head Craft Brewery in Milton on Sunday, September 27, with proceeds benefiting the Sussex County Land Trust (SCLT). With race day just over a week away, registration is still open for runners who want to join one of Sussex County’s most anticipated annual events while helping protect the places that make the county special.
The annual 3.81-mile race brings together runners, volunteers, local businesses and Dogfish Head fans for a morning of community, creativity and conservation. Nearly 2,000 participants have historically taken part in the event.
Last year’s Dogfish Dash raised an incredible $109,000 for the Sussex County Land Trust, supporting the organization’s work to preserve open space, care for protected lands, expand public access and create opportunities for people to enjoy Sussex County’s natural resources.
“The Dogfish Dash is one of those events that captures what makes Sussex County such a special place,” said Sara Bluhm, Executive Director of the Sussex County Land Trust. “It’s fun, it’s a little off-centered, and most importantly, it brings our community together around something that will have an impact long after race day. Every person who registers, volunteers or supports the Dash is helping us protect more of Sussex County for future generations.”
This year’s Dash is especially meaningful as the Sussex County Land Trust celebrates its 25th anniversary. Since its founding in 2001, SCLT has helped protect more than 6,000 acres throughout Sussex County through land acquisition, conservation easements and partnerships with landowners, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, businesses and the community.

Volunteer: SCLT needs helping hands throughout Dash Week and on race day, with opportunities available September 23–27. Enter to Win a Priority E-Bike: This year, Dash participants and supporters will also have the chance to win a Priority Bicycles e-bike, generously donated to support the Sussex County Land Trust. The bike will be raffled as part of the Dogfish Dash festivities, giving the community another fun way to support local land conservation.

“The Dash shows that there are so many ways to play a role in saving Sussex County’s open space,” Bluhm added. “You can run, volunteer, buy a raffle ticket or support the event. However you participate, you’re helping make land conservation possible.”
