Milford School District announced Dr. Jenson Dennard as the newest Assistant Principal at Milford High School.
Dr. Dennard brings more than a decade of experience in education, including classroom teaching, instructional coaching, special education leadership, and school-wide student support. Throughout his career, he has focused on building strong relationships, using data to improve student outcomes, and supporting educators in creating learning environments where all students can succeed.
“I was drawn to education because I wanted to do work that genuinely makes a difference in people’s lives,” Dennard said. “I enjoy being able to support students, build relationships with them, and help them grow both academically and personally. I know that sometimes just having one person at school who believes in you and wants to see you succeed can make a huge difference, and I hope to be that person for my students.”
Most recently, Dr. Dennard served as a Special Education Coordinator with the Indian River School District, where he worked closely with school leaders and staff to support instructional practices, student services, compliance, and school-wide systems that promote student success. He also brings valuable experience in teacher development and instructional coaching, supporting educators through professional learning, mentoring, and targeted feedback designed to strengthen instructional practice.
Before moving into school leadership, Dr. Dennard served in a variety of classroom roles across Delaware and Maryland. His experience includes teaching high school special education mathematics, serving as a high school special education progress monitoring teacher, teaching third grade in both general and special education settings, teaching fifth grade special education, and working with students in alternative education programs. As a classroom teacher, he demonstrated a strong commitment to using data and targeted interventions to improve student achievement while helping students reach their full potential.
Dr. Dennard holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and a Master of Education in Special Education from Wilmington University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Delaware State University.
As he begins his first year at Milford High School, he said his top priority is building strong relationships with students and colleagues. “My biggest priority is building strong relationships with both my students and colleagues,” he said. “With my students, I want to create an environment where they feel comfortable, respected, supported, and know that I care about them as people. With staff, I want to be someone who is approachable, dependable, and willing to work together.”
Outside of work, Dr. Dennard enjoys spending time with the people who are important to him, relaxing, and finding opportunities to have fun and recharge.
