On August 26, Milford Police Department raised funds for Special Olympics Delaware at their Cops and Coffee Shops event. The event was designed to support the services offered by Special Olympics Delaware.
“Milford Police Department is a proud supporter of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics,” Chief Ceclia Ashe said at a council meeting after the last torch run.
Since joining the Milford Police Department, Ashe has focused on community outreach, and this was another way for police to interact with the public for a good cause.

“We’re not going to arrest our way out of society’s problems, and we as law enforcement cannot do it alone,” Ashe said at a Chamber of Commerce event. “It is vital to continue to build trust with the community that our police officers have already earned.”
No information was released on how much the department raised at the event, but they were grateful for the support of the community and Dolce Bakery and Coffee Shop.
“We would also like to thank Dolce Bakery and Coffee Shop for their continued support of Special Olympics Delaware and Milford Police Department,” a social media post stated.
