Surf Bagel recently announced the launch of its new Reading Program “Books to Bagels,” designed to help teachers incentivize students to reach their reading goals. The program is simple for educators to implement and exciting for students to participate in. Teachers set reading goals for their students, and when those goals are met, students receive a special Surf Bagel coupon redeemable for their choice of a bagel and cream cheese.
“Supporting local schools has always been a priority for us,” said Matt Patton, President of Surf Bagel. “We are stoked to extend that support to our local teachers by offering a simple incentive that encourages students to meet their goals, and hopefully develop a love for reading too.”
Surf Bagel first introduced a pilot version of the program last spring at a few local schools to test the program. The response from teachers and students was amazing.
“Teachers, parents, and especially students absolutely loved the program,” Patton said. “And it makes our team happy to see excited students come to the store ready to enjoy a bagel and cream cheese as a reward for their hard work in the classroom.”
Since April, Surf Bagel has redeemed more than 250 Books to Bagels coupons from just the 75 pilot classrooms. With strong interest from educators throughout Delaware, over 1,000 classrooms are participating this school year.
The Books to Bagels Program is free for schools and teachers to join, and all reward coupons are provided at no cost by Surf Bagel.
Teachers interested in bringing the Books to Bagels Program to their classroom or school can complete the interest form available on the Surf Bagel website.
