Programs at the Milford Public Library continue in early October with some that return each month as well as others that are new to the library. Programs are available for children, teens and adults. As a reminder, during the library renovations, all teen and adult programs require registration.
Chair yoga will continue Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:15 PM. Individuals should register for each class individually.
On Tuesday, October 6, Teen Banned Books Bingo is planned at 4 PM in celebration of Banned Book Week. Themed prizes are available, and a grand prize will also be awarded.
On Wednesday, October 7, the UNITED Church mobile shower unit will be at the library from 1 to 3 PM, offering free showers, hygiene items, a clothing closet and lunch to those who may be dealing with a lack of such facilities. The library does warn that they cannot guarantee that food served has not come in contact with nuts, soy or other allergens.
At 5:30 PM on October 7, adults can play Banned Book Jeopardy with Dr. Cynthia Newton. Test your knowledge of banned and challenged books of the 20th century, discover fascinating facts about literacy censorship. Compete for bragging rights in a fun, interactive program.
On Thursday, October 8, at 5 PM, relax and unwind by pasting treasures, ephemera and cool objects as part of the Junk Journaling Club. These are objects found in daily life but can be used to document memories or make attractive spreads, collages and pages. It also provides an excellent way to socialize with others. Bring a journal from home or use one provided by the library. You can also bring your own photos and meaningful things although materials will also be available. Light refreshments will be available from 5 to 7 PM. This is not a class, but a social gathering designed for fun.
Children’s story hour continues every Thursday at 10:30 AM and 5:30 PM. Children’s home school hour is also planned for October 2 at 1 PM while Toddler Time is planned for Tuesday, October 6 at 10:30 AM.
The Teens Imazine evening will be held every Thursday at 4 PM and the Teen homeschool hour is planned for Friday, October 2 at 1 PM. Gaming Hour is planned for every Wednesday at 4 PM.
All teen programs are for those 12 to 18. As a reminder, if you cannot attend a program, please cancel at least 24 hours in advance so the spot can be offered to someone on the waiting list. Missing two programs without notice may result in a temporary suspension of registration privileges.
To register for any program at the library, visit their Event Calendar online and choose the program you wish to attend. The Milford Public Library is located at 11 Southeast Front Street, Milford.
