Sip and Simmer, located in Penny Square in the former fondue location, celebrated their official grand opening on Saturday, June 6. The restaurant held a soft opening a few weeks ago.
“We are here in downtown Milford on one of the iconic corners of town that you always see when you are driving from the highway,” Downtown Milford Inc. Vice-President Neyda Albarran said. “We have the privilege and honor of welcoming Sip and Simmer to downtown today. This is a big party and we’re so happy to welcome this business here.”
Albarran introduced the owners, Kelley and Niki Morris along with their partners Ashley Savage and David Smith. Smith is the chef at the restaurant.
“We’ve been friends for a very long time and it’s always been a dream of ours individually to have a restaurant and bar,” Niki Morris said. “Once we came together, we were able to make this dream come true.”
The restaurant plans to keep some of the menu items from fondue, including the three different fondue courses. They have added additional menu items like sandwiches and salads. Entrees include Uncle Joe’s pot pie, Papa Smitty’s barbecue short ribs, crab stuffed shrimp and a 12-ounce New York strip steak. In honor of National Donut Day, the restaurant added “The Honey Clucker, “crispy, hand-breaded chicken tenders sitting in the center of a glazed donut and drizzled with honey.
Sip and Simmer also offers Happy Hour from 3 to 6 PM in the bar area with $10 wings, Buffalo cauliflower and bruschetta topped crostinis as well as $12 fried oysters and garlic butter mussels. There is also a $14 charcuterie board during Happy Hour. Draft beer is $5, house wine $6, classic pour cocktails $7 and crushes are also $7.
Sip and Simmer is located at 39 North Walnut Street in Milford. Hours are Tuesday and Wednesday from 11 AM to 9 PM; Thursday through Saturday 11 AM to 11 PM. Reservations can be made by calling 302-249-2444.
