Carlisle Fire Company responded to Milford Central Academy at 6:31 PM on April 2 for reports of a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, they found a school bus fully involved in flames. Due to exposure to multiple vehicles, Houston Volunteer Fire Company was called in to assist along with medics.
One person was evaluated by EMS but there were no details on any injuries. The situation was under control within the hour.
Milford School District released a statement.
“We wanted to share some information regarding the bus fire that occurred late this afternoon on the campus of MHS & MCA. A bus transporting Delmar School District’s softball team to the campus for a game vs. our Lady Bucs experienced an engine block fire in the parking lot,” the release read. “There were no students on the bus at the time and the driver was able to safely exit the bus. Carlisle Fire Company responded and extinguished the fire without further incident. No injuries were reported. We have been in contact with Delmar School District officials and want to recognize their team and coaches for their resilience as very little of the contents on the bus was salvageable.”
The release continued.
“We wish to express our thanks to our first responders for their service, and are thankful that there were no students or adults injured during this incident.”
