It is with deep sorrow and much love that his family announces the transitioning of Willie C. Moore, Sr.
Willie C. Moore, Sr., 83 of Dover, Delaware transitioned peacefully on March 14, 2026, at his home. Willie was born on November 26, 1943, in Hahira, Georgia to Annie Lucile Perry (Moore) and Leroy Moore.
While traveling on a bus for work, he landed in Dover, Delaware, where he worked at Delaware State University until he retired in November 2014.
Willie was best known for his cooking, his love for fishing, video games and being the best father and grandfather to his family. He would tell everyone he’s turning 21 for every birthday and you couldn’t tell him any different.
Willie is proceeded in death by his daughter, Crystal Moore; great-grandson, Quaivere Hunter;Â Virginia R. Lewis (Moore), and very special loved one, Ora Lee Waters.
Willie is survived by his children, Adrienne L. Moore of Washington, DC, Willie C. Moore, Jr., of Middletown, DE, and David L. Moore of Dover, Delaware.
He is also survived by his grandchildren; James Moore, Sr. (Taschica Moore) of Smyrna, DE, Joshua Moore of Indiana, Dawnshea Moore of Washington, DC, Severa Hunter (Quaison Hunter) of Dover, Delaware, Sebrina Moore of Dover, Delaware, David Moore, Jr., and Xavier Moore of Dover, Delaware, Aaliyah Dominko; and a host of great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026, with visitation from 11 AM to Noon. A funeral service will follow at noon. All services will be held at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 717 West Division Street, Dover.
