Over the next two weeks at the Milford Public Library, programs focus on bunnies, poetry, flowers and more. Most of the programs at the library are free and simply require registration.
Home School Hour will take a road trip to the Delaware Archives on Friday, April 17 at 1 PM. There, children will play “Road to Liberty,” an original board game created by the archives to help children learn about Delaware in the Revolutionary War. The game takes about 10 minutes and uses archival documents as part of the play. Registration is required for this program.
On Saturday, April 18 at noon, join the library for Bunny Basics. This program is designed for those who are considering rabbits as pets. The program will include information on nutrition, health and care, the rescue world and more. Moderated by Cathy Griffith, a volunteer for House Rabbit Society, will provide everything on Bunnies for Beginners.
That same day, a Teen Poetry Workshop is planned with Gail Braune of the Rehoboth Beach Writer’s Guild at noon. The program is designed to show those who think they cannot write poetry that poems are simply short chapters of memories and wishes. Attendees will read poems and discuss them before writing poetry of their own. Registration is required.
Apple & Potato Prints are the subject of a program on Tuesday, April 21 at 3 PM. Children will learn how to create unique stamps using apples and potatos between 3 PM to 6:30 PM in the Children’s Room. This is an eco-friendly activity that lets children play with food for a good reason.
Also, on April 21 at 3:30 PM, teens can learn how to make their own fidget toys to help them through an upcoming exam or just to keep their hands busy. Teens will decorate deflated balloons and then fill them with flour. All materials are provided.
Tuesday, March 24 at 4 PM, celebrate Earth Day by making bee houses. Protecting bees is one of the best ways to help our environment and this activity will draw bees from near and far. All materials are provided.
During the Bug and Bud Festival on Saturday, April 25 at 11 AM, stop in and make a Paper Flower Bouquet. This program is inspired by the Modern Museum of Art’s “A Line Florist” by Anna Bruder. Choose a handful of flowers from our display and fill them with color to create a bouquet, a great way to get ready for spring in style.
Join Milford Advocacy for the Homeless for a community meeting hosted by President and Founder Martha Gery. The program is a public meeting to share how MAH is reaching out to the community, how others can get involved and ways to help neighbors in need.
The Lego Club meets on April 28 at 5:30 PM as each attendee will receive a small individual LEGO set to create their own masterpiece. This program is for children six and older with registration required.
Karaoke Night is planned for Thursday, April 30 at 4:30 PM will allow teens to select from a list of songs to perform. The order of singing will be based on when the selection is submitted to staff. Each teen will sing at least once. Food and drinks will be provided, so be sure to let staff know of any allergies.
As a reminder, if you cannot attend a program, please cancel at least 24 hours in advance so the space can be offered to someone on the waitlist. Missing two programs without notice may result in a temporary suspension of registration privileges. To register for any programs at the library, visit their Events page online.
