Delaware Technical and Community College Owens Campus has announced an Early Bird Discount for their Run, White and Blue 5k Run/Walk. The event is planned for September 3 with all proceeds benefitting Delaware Tech Owens Campus scholarships for veterans and first responders.
The event is planned around the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. It includes a 5k run and one mile walk at the Georgetown campus. In addition, there will be a live band and post-race cookout featuring barbecue chicken, pizza, beer and ice cream for all who participate.
The race is rain or shine with registration opening at 5 PM and the race starting at 6 PM. All participants should meet at the Student Services Center. Through July 17, adults can register for $25. After July 17, the cost is $30 through September 2. Silent participants can register for $35.
“Stay home and well send you a shirt,” the race announcement read. “Students, veterans, military, and first responders are $15 through September 2. After September 2, the cost for all is $35. Children under five are free.”
Awards will be presented to overall winners along with age-category winners. A t-shirt and post-race celebration are guaranteed for all pre-registered runners and walkers.
