At a recent meeting, Milford City Council approved changes to the Elections Board. This is a change from the approval made on March 6, 2026.
“The initial Board of Elections was Karen Boone, Carlene Wilson and Donna Merchant, City Clerk Katrina Wilson said. “Karen Boone cannot participate this year, so she is being replaced with Doreen Wrightsman.”
At the time of the appointment, there were four people running for the Ward 2 seat currently held by Councilwoman Lori Connor who chose not to run for another term. However, a few days after the appointment of the board, both Dawn Tomczak, who was running for Ward 4, and Ron Mescola, who was running for Ward 2, chose to withdraw from the race.
No one contested Mayor Todd Culotta or First Ward Councilwoman Madula Kalesis who will retain their seat without an election. After the withdrawal of Tomczak, Councilwoman Katrina Wilson will retain her seat without an election. No one filed to run for Ward 3, including sitting Councilman Michael Stewart. Once the seat is vacated in May, a special election will be held for the seat.
With the withdrawal of Mescola, Desiray Anderson, Marianina “Nina” Pletcher and Kim Wills will work to win the Ward 2 seat on Saturday, April 25 from 10 AM to 6 PM. Only voters in Ward 2 are permitted to vote in the election which will be held at the Public Works building, 180 Vickers Drive, Milford. The City of Milford has an interactive map where residents can find what ward they are in so that they can vote.
The new Board of Elections was approved unanimously.
