A Milford Corporate Center change order with George & Lynch was approved by Milford City Council on Monday, March 9. The change order did not add any costs to the project but extended the contract time with the company.
“The Milford Corporate Center Phase 1 project was scheduled to be completed by March 10, 2026,” City Planner Rob Pierce said. “George & Lynch is requesting a four-month contract extension until July 10, 2026, to complete all the onsite and off-site construction that are outlined in the contract documents.”
At a previous meeting, Pierce stated that there had been issues with gas and telecommunication lines along Milford Harrington Highway which attributed to the delays. Inclement weather in January and February also led to the company’s inability to complete the contract by mid-March.
“This is a no cost change order, just an extension of the contract time,” Pierce said. “KCI Technologies, who is helping with the construction administration, has provided a letter of support for the extension.”
The request was approved by a vote of 7-0 with Councilman Danny Perez absent from the meeting.
Milford Corporate Center is designed to bring quality jobs to Milford. Although this change order did not add costs to the project, change orders approved last week did increase costs. All costs incurred during the construction of the project will be recovered as lots within the complex are sold.
During the department reports, City Manager Chris Coleman stated that Economic Development and Community Engagement Director Lauren Swain had met with several businesses looking to open in Milford. Councilman Jason James asked if any of those businesses were looking at the business park and Coleman replied that they were not.
