Downtown Milford Inc. is looking for volunteers to help them achieve their vision of a dynamic, vibrant downtown where people gather to shop, dine, work and celebrate Milford’s rich cultural heritage. The organization aims to enhance quality of life and foster a sense of pride for future generations through collaboration, strategic partnerships and a commitment to economic sustainability.
“Our Promotions Committee is responsible for putting on all the events run by Downtown Milford Inc., “Sade Truiett, Downtown Milford Coordinator, said. “This is the committee that brings Bug and Bud, First Friday and Holiday Stroll to life. This year, we are bringing back Eat in the Street plus we are planning a brand-new Chef Challenge event this year. But we need volunteers to make that happen.”
A Promotions Committee meeting is planned for February 24 from 6 to 7 PM. The meeting will be virtual. If interested, email [email protected] to receive the meeting link.
“We are very proud of our Multi-Cultural Committee,” Truiett said. “This is the committee that partners with other organizations to bring the Martin Luther King Celebration, Juneteenth and the Hispanic Festival. We are looking for members from all cultures who would like to help us recognize the many diverse populations we have in Milford.”
A Multi-Cultural Meeting is planned for February 12 from 6 to 7:15 PM at the Downtown Milford Inc. office, located 17 South Walnut Street. For those who cannot attend that meeting, reach out to [email protected] for more information on joining.
“One of our little-known committees is the Economic Vitality Committee,” Triuett said. “This committee is responsible for grants that support our downtown businesses, providing resources to new and existing businesses and creating a downtown that is attractive to businesses looking at relocating or expanding in Milford.”
The Economic Vitality Committee meets the second Tuesday of each month at 2 PM via Zoom, but the times can be adjusted if necessary as the committee grows.
“We are looking for chairpersons for Economic Vitality and Promotions,” Truiett said. “The chair would simply oversee the committee and report to the Board of Directors. We are also looking for a chair for the Bug and Bud Festival and Eat in the Street.”
Anyone interested can email [email protected], call 302-393-6808 or stop in the office, located at 17 North Walnut Street between Noon and 4 PM Tuesday through Friday.
