Christian Medford Killen of Felton passed away peacefully on January 15 in hospice care with his mother by his side. Known as Caribou, he was 59 years old. Chris lived life on his own terms and was deeply rooted in family, service and the land he loved.
Born in Milford to a multi-generational family living in the Felton area, he left high school just before graduation to help on the family farm. He later earned his GED and continued forward with determination and independence, spending much of his early life in agriculture and known for hard work plus love of the community.
Chris worked for the Delaware Department of Transportation as well as various contractors over the years. He was a lifetime member of Felton Fire Company, serving for many years as a volunteer firefighter. He was also a founding member of the Harrington Moose Riders.
Chris enjoyed stock car racing, working on old trucks and tractors, hunting, fishing and collecting machinery as well as parts. If there was anything that needed mending, he was the one to mend it. He often spoke of looking forward to being reunited with his grandfather, Medford Killen, who he hoped to go hunting with again.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Edwin Killen; his grandparents, Medford and Elanor Killen and Dorothy Warrington; and his aunt, Patricia Smith.
Chris is survived by his mother, Cheryl Killen; his younger brother, Andrew “Andy” Killen; his three children, Ronald Killen, Spencer Killen and Shawna Killen; his two grandsons, Matthew and Leo Hugues; his longtime companion, Donna Jackson, who cared for him and assisted him in his later years; several aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be dearly missed by his faithful lab, Jersey.
According to his wishes, Chris will be cremated. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life at the Felton Fire Hall on February 21, 2026, at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his name to the Harrington Moose Riders.
