Starting her career as a makeup artist, Ericka Passwaters began her journey into the permanent makeup industry in 2017. She found that working with clients gave her a strong foundation in beauty, symmetry and helping them gain confidence.
“Over the years, I continued my education, refined my skills and grew a loyal client base,” Passwaters said. “That passion and dedication eventually led me to open my own business where I am now able to provide high-quality permanent makeup services in a professional and welcoming environment.”
At her studio, located in the historic Wells Building at 10 Northwest Front Street in Milford, Passwaters offers a range of permanent makeup and restorative services, including cosmetic brow tattooing, eyeliner, lip blushing, scar camouflage and 3D areola reconstruction for individuals who have undergone mastectomies due to breast cancer.
“As a makeup artist, I wanted to continue evolving within the beauty field,” Passwaters said. “I have always had a passion for helping people feel their very best. Permanent makeup truly intrigued me because the confidence it provides doesn’t wash off. It allows clients to wake up feeling confident every day.”
One of the biggest challenges Passwaters has faced is building trust in an industry where results require a high-level of skill and education.
“I have also had to balance continued training, business growth and client care, especially as the industry continues to evolve,” Passwaters said “However, these challenges push me to constantly improve and raise my standards.”
Opening her own business and doing what she loves every day is one of her greatest achievements, but there is more to it, according to Passwaters.
“Being trusted by clients for services that can be both cosmetic and deeply emotional, such as areola reconstruction, has been incredibly rewarding,” Passwaters said. “If I could go back, I would have invested in more advanced education and business mentorship earlier on. While technical skill is essential, learning the business side sooner would have made the early years less challenging.”
Passwaters advises anyone who wants to enter this industry to invest in quality training, practice consistently and don’t rush the process.
“Building trust, skill and confidence takes time,” Passwaters said. “Most importantly, genuinely care about your clients. That passion will always set you apart.”
Passwaters has studio hours Tuesday through Saturday from 9 AM to 4 PM. Appointments can be made by calling 302-236-3713, online or via email.
