Milford School District announced that Devon Reed will serve as the head coach for baseball. Reed returns to the Bucs with an impressive playing background.
Reed is a true Milford success story, beginning his baseball career in Little League and continuing through middle and high school at Milford. During his standout career in high school, Reed earned All-Conference and All-State honors. He earned high honor roll all through high school, was a member of the Honor Society and Bible Club while volunteering at the Delaware Veteran’s Home. Reed helped lead the Bucs to the 2011 Henlopen Conference Championship, culminating in his selection in the 20th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft by the Miami Marlins.
After graduating from Milford, Reed competed in his four years at the College of Charleston, developing skills and expanding his knowledge of the game at the collegiate level. While at the College of Charleston in 2012, Reed started 11 games and played 32 as a freshman. He hit .270 with 10 hits and two RBI. The following year, he played in 34 games, primarily at third base and hit .152 on the year, finishing with nine runs and three RbI. In 2014, he appeared in 22 games, including three starts as a designated hitter. He went .235 on the season and rove in a run with a single pin a pinch-hit situation against Towson.
He is passionate about giving back to the program that helped shape his baseball career and is committed to building a competitive, disciplined and positive program while develop student-athletes on and off the field.
