One area often overlooked when reviewing the previous year is how changes to laws, insurance and other matters impact the elderly. Amy Waltz, Executive Director of the Milford Senior Center, provided some insight into how 2025 impacted the older residents of Milford.
“One of the most important developments related to the elderly in the Milford area in 2025 was the formal launch of the Delaware Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP) Symposium,” Waltz said. “This unites healthcare providers, educators, policymakers and community leaders to address how older adults are served and provide a higher quality of care.”
Another highlight of 2025 for older people in Milford was the overall growth of senior-centered support and health services through the Milford Wellness Village WeCare program and ChristinaCare’s expansion of senior services in Milford.
“Milford has taken substantial steps toward positioning itself as a center for senior care and aging-friendly services,” Waltz said. “This is largely through expansions of services and recognition of related programs offered at various local organizations.
According to Waltz, Milford Senior Center’s membership has increased by 12 percent since this time last year and that trend is expected to continue.
