Although the weather has turned cooler, it is still nice enough to enjoy outdoor fall activities around Milford. Pick your own pumpkins, hayrides and bonfires are available at many locations in the area.
Fifer’s offers several options for you-pick produce and it is a great way to show children where food comes from. You can choose from apples or pumpkins at the farm in the fall. There is a minimum purchase of $5 per person for those three and older to enter the picking fields at Fifer’s
On weekday, the fields are a la carte which means you do not need a ticket to enter the fields but must still meet the minimum purchase requirement. On weekends, however, you must purchase a Fall Fest ticket. You can purchase Fall Fest tickets for weekday visits as well to avoid the minimum purchase.

Apple picking is available Monday through Friday with wagons running 10 AM to 4:30 PM. The purchase fee includes a wagon ride to the orchard and back. Only guests who plan to actively pick apples and have pre-paid bags can board the wagon. Pumpkin picking is available Monday through Saturday, and the field can be entered from 10 AM to 4:30 PM. You must exit the field by 5 PM. Be sure to bring your own wagon, cart or stroller to haul pumpkins as no wagons are available at the farm.
Fall Fest tickets can be purchased online with prices of $12 on weekdays or $18 on weekends. Tickets include you pick activities, a corn maze and outdoor attractions. There is homemade apple cider, kettle corn and cider donuts available. Learn more about Fall Fest at the Fifer’s website.
If you are looking for a wagon ride this fall, Killen’s Pond State Park is the place to go. They offer wagon rides every Saturday in October. The rides are from 3 to 4 PM and 4 to 5 PM. The rides take about 40-minutes round trip through the fields and forests of the park. The wagons do not have hay added so bring a blanket. All wagon rides are weather permitting. Online registration ends 22 hours before the ride. After that, please call 302-284-4299 to register. The cost of the ride is $8 plus park admission.

Looking for something fun do to at home this fall? Consider hosting a bonfire in the backyard. Create a fall seating area with hay bales covered with blankets for seating or bring your patio furniture into the yard. Add some pumpkins, fall foliage and candles. It is important to note that you do not want to build a bonfire on the ground but use a firepit or create a brick barrier on the ground, keeping the fire small. Choose a spot away from your house and keep a fire extinguisher handy.
Offer guests foods like hot dogs and brats that they can roast over the open flames. Fill containers with popcorn and trail mix. Of course, be sure to have the supplies for s’mores!
No matter what activity you choose during the crisp fall days and nights, be sure to share those activities with family and friends.
