The Sussex County Land Trust (SCLT) will mark its 25th anniversary with a community celebration on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Delaware Botanic Gardens. The event, titled “25 Years of Preserving Sussex: Celebrating Our Roots, Growing Our Future,” will honor a quarter century of land preservation while looking ahead to future conservation efforts.
Guests will enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres, drinks, live music, and networking opportunities in the new Annette Pennoni Meadow Pavilion.
“This milestone is not only a celebration of what we’ve accomplished but also a call to action for the future,” said Sara Bluhm, Executive Director of the Sussex County Land Trust. “Together with our community, we’re committed to preserving open space, protecting natural resources, and ensuring that Sussex County remains a beautiful place to live, work, and play for generations to come.”
The kickoff follows the success of the 2025 Dogfish Dash, where SCLT was the nonprofit beneficiary. The event raised $109,000 for land preservation thanks to the support of Dogfish Head, sponsors, volunteers, and participants. Organizers said the milestone demonstrated the power of community partnership and set the tone for a year of continued momentum.

SCLT also extended gratitude to the many 2025 Dogfish Dash sponsors, including Artisans Bank, Atlantic Millwork, Bella Terra Landscapes & Garden Center, Becker Morgan Group, Inc., Bohler Engineering, Chesapeake Utilities, County Bank, DRB Homes, GMB, Schell Brothers, Sussex County Council, WSFS, and dozens more community partners.
