The City of Milford has processed and mailed property tax bills for 2025. Residents can also access their property tax bills online through the Resident Access Site.
Tax bills cover the period between October 1, 2025, and September 30, 2026 and are due September 30, 2025. A one percent penalty is accessed to unpaid balances after the due date. There are also fees for returned or dishonored payments.
Bills are mailed directly to property owners, not mortgage companies, so anyone with an escrow account will need to contact their lender about payment for property taxes. Payment can be made in person at the Customer Service Center, 119 South Walnut Street in Milford or at the City Hall Dropbox, 201 South Walnut Street in Milford. There is also a dropbox in the Customer Service lot.
The mailing address for payments is PO Box 159, Milford DE 19963 while online payments can be made by clicking here. Call 302-422-8616 or email [email protected] if you have questions.
The city offers a senior citizen exemption provided income qualifications are met. Every person 65 or older with an income below $20,000 from all sources per year, exclusive of social security and government-sponsored benefits, is eligible for an exemption on $40,000 of assessed value of their property. In the case of a married couple, income cannot exceed $40,000 per year. A statement is required and you must have been a resident for at least one year. Proof of income must be provided and the deadline to apply for the exemption was May 30. Contact Customer Service by calling 302-422-61616 or emailing [email protected].
Milford City Council approved the 2025-26 tax warrant at a special meeting on August 6. The tax rate will be 60 cents per $100 of assessed value. This reflects a one cent increase per $100 of assessed value from the 2024-25 tax warrant. The increase is the final one cent that allowed the city to stop relying on volatile Realty Transfer Taxes to balance the budget. The change was spread over five years, adding just one cent each year to property taxes.
The deadline for appeals for this tax period has passed.
