Milford Public Library has announced programs for June with events designed for all ages. Programs range from plant swaps, squid dissection and a pigeon exhibit.
“On June 7 at 11 AM, we will offer a Plant Swap,” Lea Rosell, Executive Director of the Milford Library, said. “Gather with other plant lovers and exchange plants, cuttings and seeds as well as care tips. You can just stop in for a quick swap or chat with members of the Milford Garden Club to learn more trade secrets.”
George Meringolo, President of Little Living, will be at the library for a discussion on the affordable housing crisis and their proposed solution on Wednesday, June 11 at 5:30 PM. There will be a Reptile and Amphibian Show on Thursday, June 12 at 2 PM, allowing those who attend to get up close with turtles, snakes, frogs and toads with Killen’s Pond experts. Courageous Hearts will offer “Paws & Breathe” on June 10 at 2 PM for an afternoon of mindfulness and calm. A therapy dog will be present and registration is required.
“Continuing with wildlife knowledge, a Squid Dissection: From Ink to Pen will be held June 13 at 3 PM presented by a park naturalist from the Indian River Life-Saving Station Museum,” Rosell said. “Participate in a guided dissection highlighting the amazing adaptation of squid. This program requires registration.”
Father’s Day Storytime is planned on June 14 at 11 AM, celebrating fathers, grandfathers and more. Families are welcome and there will be snacks and well as crafts. Movie Night on June 17 at 5 PM will feature “The Bad Guys” with drinks and light snacks for this PG movie showing. On June 18, Gabrielle Esposito will present “Write Your Way,” at 5:30 PM, exploring how colors influence mood and perception in visual art and writing.
“We are excited to bring the DelMarVa Pigeon Club will showcase a variety of pigeon breeds under the portico outside,” Rosell said. “This will be June 21 at 11 AM. Coffee 101 is also planned that day at 2:15 PM with Dolce Bakery and Coffee providing details on the difference between a latte and a macchiato. This event will be held at the coffee shop at 36 North Walnut Street. Attendees must be be 13 or older and provided a free coffee drink. Registration is required.”
Eric Wahl, a local landscape architect and President of the Mispillion Art League, will present Picasso Faces on June 27 at 2 PM where you can create your own Picasso-style masterpiece. On June 28, local award-winning artist Barbara Buford will present 3 Finger Botanicals at 10:30 AM. Attendees will be able to create bold botanical bouquets.
