It is with heavy hearts that friends and family of Chester “Chet” Frank Davis announce his passing. Chester was 69, a beloved son, brother, uncle, friend and unforgettable part of the Delaware beach community. He was surrounded by the love of his family when he passed.
Chet grew up in Georgetown and later made his home in Rehoboth Beach where he became a true local legend. For more than 40 years, Chet was a bartender in Rehoboth and Dewey where generations of locals and visitors came to know him. Behind the bar, he had a way of making people feel welcomed, remembered and right at home. His big personality, countless stories, humor and familiar face became a part of the beach town he loved.
Chet is survived by his mother, Patricia Davis, sister Penny, brother, Jamie, his niece and nephew, Madison, Reilly, Kingston and Grayson, along with countless friends who will carry his memory with them.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Davis.
If you knew Chet, you probably knew the things he loved most: a cold Coors Light and a Grand Marnier. But more than anything, Chet loved the people and the life he built around them. His years behind the bar weren’t simply a job, they were a lifetime of friendships, conversations, laughter and memories. Chet will be deeply missed, fondly remembered and forever a part of the Delaware beach community he called home.
Rest easy, Chet. Keep the fairways open, the Coors Light’s cold and the Grand Marnier flowing. Legends don’t die. They live forever and you will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial contributions to Georgetown Fire Department, PO Box 77, Georgetown DE 19947.
