Earlier this year, the Milford Senior Center announced the installation of Veterans’ Cove Patriotic Mural Project, a large-scale tribute that will celebrate America’s Semi-quincentennial as well as the service and sacrifice of U.S. military veterans. The mural will grace the walls of Veterans’ Cove within Milford Senior Center and will recognize all branches of the United States military.
On June 18 from 3 to 5 PM, an unveiling ceremony will be held at Milford Senior Center. The ceremony will recognize donors, area dignitaries, the artist, staff and volunteers who contributed many hours to the mural.
The design highlights both Delaware’s and the City of Milford’s significant contributions to our nation’s 250-year history, creating a powerful visual narrative of patriotism, service, and local pride. The project was led by talented local artist Heather Reaves, whose work brought the vision to life. Adding to its significance, select Milford Senior Center members assisted in the painting process—making the mural a truly collaborative, intergenerational, and community-driven effort.
More than a work of art, the Veterans’ Cove Patriotic Mural Project stands as a celebration of America’s Semi-quincentennial and a lasting tribute to the men and women who have served our country. The initiative also serves an important philanthropic purpose. Funds raised through the project support the refurbishment of Veterans’ Cove and help the Senior Center continue providing essential services to members, including free transportation and low-cost meals.
“This mural will stand as a symbol of gratitude, history, and community—one that will inspire and honor generations to come,” said Milford Senior Center Executive Director, Amy Waltz.
Milford Senior Center is dedicated to enriching the lives of older adults through programs, services, and community engagement opportunities that promote independence, wellness, and connection.
Sponsorships are still available and start at just $25. Contact Amy or Kathy at the senior center at 302-422-3385. Refreshments will be available.
