Milford School District announced Travis Moorman as the new superintendent, replacing Bridget Chavez who will retire this month. Moorman returns to the administrative office of Milford after leaving in 2015.
“We are thrilled to welcome Travis back to Milford,” Scott Fitzgerald, President of the Milford School District Board of Education, said. “His experience, leadership and heart for the community make him the right person to lead our district into the future.
Moorman has 25 years’ experience in education, serving as the Director of Teaching and Learning in Milford from 2012 to 2015. He has also served as Director of Elementary Education and Director of Student Learning as well as Assistant Principal and Principal in various school districts.
Moorman began his career in North Carolina, teaching in the classroom before he moved to Delaware where he began his teaching career at Lulu M. Ross Elementary School. He holds a bachelor’s in elementary education from Salisbury State University, a master’s in school leadership from Wilmington College and has completed his doctoral coursework at Widener University. Since 2015, he has served as Director of Human Resources for the Lake Forest School District.
“Mr. Moorman’s proven leadership and steady approach will provide the stability and direction needed as the district moves forward,” Fitzgerald said.
Moorman will begin in the superintendent position in July.
