Delaware State Police arrested a Harrington woman and cited a Selbyville man on drug and driving offenses following a traffic stop early Friday morning in Laurel.
The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on May 1, when a trooper on patrol along Fire Tower Road near Sycamore Road observed a moving violation and stopped a Chevrolet Cruze. According to police, the driver was identified as a 36-year-old man from Selbyville, while the passenger was identified as 38-year-old Nicole Kenton of Harrington.
During the initial encounter, troopers reported seeing drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle. A subsequent search led to the discovery of additional paraphernalia belonging to both occupants.
Police said troopers also recovered approximately 48 bags of suspected heroin and about 0.85 grams of suspected cocaine, which were determined to be in Kenton’s possession. Authorities said the driver showed signs of impairment at the scene. Both individuals were taken into custody without incident.
Kenton was transported to State Police Troop 5, where she was charged with multiple offenses, including possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity, possession of a controlled substance and five counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on an $8,000 unsecured bond.
The driver was also taken to Troop 5 and later released after being issued a summons for driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia and related traffic violations.
