Milford Rx Pharmacy added a sign to the front of Airpark Plaza, sparking conversation on social media about the new business. Owner Dimpi Patel is excited to open the doors on the new pharmacy.
“My journey in pharmacy has always been driven by a desire to truly help patients understand their medication and take control of their health,” Patel said. “Ove the years, I’ve seen that pharmacy care can often become more transactional and less personal, especially in larger retail settings.”
Patel felt that opening a pharmacy comes from a commitment to change that experience.
“We wanted to create a space where patients receive not just their prescriptions, but also the time, attention and education they deserve,” Patel said. “We chose to open our pharmacy in Milford because it is the community we live in and care deeply about. We wanted to begin this journey by serving our own neighbors and giving back to the place we call home. Our goal is to build lasting relationships with our patients, ensuring they feel heard, supported and confident about their care, not just told when to take a medication, but truly understanding why it matters.”
Patel earned a bachelor’s in pharmacy and completed a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Maryland in Baltimore. Over the past five years, Patel has worked as a pharmacist, gaining valuable experience in patient care and developing a strong understanding of community healthcare needs which she feels have prepared her to open Milford Rx Pharmacy.
“My passion for pharmacy has always been rooted in a desire to serve, supporting individuals, families and even the broader community with the right knowledge and care,” Patel said. “That purpose existed well before I became a mother.”
Patel is the mother of two young children which she says has strengthened her on a deeper level.
“It has made me more empathetic, more attentive, and more committed to going beyond just being a knowledgeable professional,” Patel said. “It has reinforced my belief in caring for people with the same sincerity, responsibility and dedication that I bring to my own family.”
Milford Rx Pharmacy will offer traditional pharmacy services, such as prescriptions and over-the-counter items, but Patel plans to go beyond that.
“We’ll provide medication therapy management to help patients better understand and optimize their medications, as well as immunizations to keep the community protected,” Patel said. “We’re also planning to introduce non-sterile compounding, especially for veterinary patients, since it can sometimes be challenging to give animals standard human dosage forms.”
Milford Rx Pharmacy will also offer a more personalized experience with curated wellness products, healthy snacks and ready-to-go care baskets, designed as get-well gifts or seasonal kits, so patients and families can find both healthcare support and thoughtful items in one place.
“I am most looking forward to building meaningful relationships with my patients,” Patel said. “In many healthcare settings today, things can feel rushed and patients don’t always get the time or attention they deserve. I’m excited to create an environment where people feel comfortable asking questions, sharing their concerns and receiving the guidance they need to make informed decisions about their health.”
The goal of Milford Rx Pharmacy is to serve the community with dedication and compassion, reaching as many people as possible and expanding that impact further over time, while ensuring every patient feels truly heard, supported and cared for.
“What makes us different is our approach to care,” Patel said. “Our motto is ‘Caring Beyond Prescription,’ and we truly stand by it. We’re not just here to dispense medications, we’re here to educate, guide and build lasting relationships with our patients. Every individual has unique health needs, and we believe in taking the time to understand those needs and provide truly personalized care.”
Patel plans to offer one-on-one consultations as well as specialized services such as compounding and thoughtfully curated wellness offerings.
“Our focus is to create a pharmacy experience that is more personal, more accessible and deeply connected to the community we serve,” Patel said.
