Milford Public Library recently announced programs they will offer in April, with options available for both children and adults.
On April 8 at 5 PM, the library will offer Author’s Bingo Night as Bingo Caller Bill guides attendees through multiple rounds of the classic Bingo game with a focus on literature. On April 17 between 3 and 6 PM, children can stop in to create an Easter Egg Bath Bomb to enjoy at home.
“Our Downtown Milford Scavenger Hunt is Saturday, April 12 at 11 AM,” Lea Rosell, Executive Director of the library, said. “Visit the library to get your scavenger hunt clues and then go collect your clues around town. Return your completed hunt card to receive a prize! This is a rain or shine event, and children should bring a basket or bag to collect prizes at various businesses.”
On April 22 from 3 to 6:30 PM, stop in to build a boat that will keep your Peeps afloat while on April 23, the library will offer Dog Man Movie Night with drinks and light snacks. The movie begins at 5 PM and is rated PG.
“Inspired by Kristen Hannah’s novel, “The Women,” award-winning journalist Nancy E. Lynch presents the “Real Women: Veterans of Vietnam,” where she will share real letters from Delaware women serving in the combat zone, comparing those experiences with the fictional characters in Hannah’s novel,” Rosell said. “We are grateful for a grant from Delaware Humanities that made this presentation possible.”
As for teen programs, Bad Art Night is planned for April 15 at 5 PM, giving teens the mission to create the worst art imaginable in just 15 minutes. The disaster piece will compete for the illustrious title of “worst in show” with prizes awarded. Music Bingo is planned for April 23 at 5 PM with a twist on an old classic.
“On April 24 at :30 PM we will celebrate poetry month with “Bad Poetry,” asking those who come to the event to create the worst poetry possible,” Rosell said. “Prompts will be provided and there will be snacks.”
Chris Braddock and Doug Seth from the Music School of Delaware will provide a history of stringed instruments, an intro to guitar basics and a free concert on April 30 at 7:30 PM to celebrate Guitar Month. A limited number of guitars will be available, so guests are asked to bring their own if they can.
“Last year, community members visited the library 113,000 times and checked out over 117,000 items,” Rosell said. “Whether you want to unwind with a DVD, stream a movie or join a free yoga class, the library is here for you. Need to update your resume, learn a new language or find reliable information on the best lawnmower, we have the resources you need. We are a 501(c)3, not fully funded by any governmental agency so community support is critical to ensure we continue offering educational, cultural and recreational resources and experiences our community has come to expect.
Milford Public Library will be closed Friday, April 18 and Saturday, April 19 for the Easter holiday.
